Governor Charity Ngilu has found herself on the receiving end after an audio of the governor inciting her community against their neighbours in the Eastern region emerged online.

In the alleged audio, the governor is heard telling her Kamba community to prepare bows and arrows and even volunteering to teach them on how to use the weapons if they didn’t know.

The seemingly irritated governor bowed that they were going to fight with the Somali heders adding that she was ready to fund the Kambas for the same.

“Don’t think that those guns are powerful than our bows and arrows. I will leave you with money then we deal with these people. We are going to fight with them,” stated Ngilu.

“I am not lying to you. I will call our young men from Mutha to come I train them how to use the weapons so that we do away with these people,” added Ngilu.

She termed her meeting with the locals as ‘public participation’ saying that the constitution provides for defence mechanism when attacked by someone.

“The constitution states that if someone attacks you, you can defend yourself. Because these are the people bringing us trouble, we should deal with them accordingly, are we together?” said Ngilu amid cheers from the crowd.

She was reacting to Somali herders who are alleged to have invaded the farms of most Kitui locals with their cattle destroying people’s crops.

It is alleged that the herders have been so stubborn grazing their camels on people’s crops and this could have led to protests which caught the governor’s attention.

Ngilu’s unmistakably unlawful incitement of her community against the Somali herders and their livestock places her in a realm of criminality.

Her despicable utterances have the potential to sow ethnic discord and might serve as a legit call for her arrest.

Despite the unfortunate remarks, some users from the region have supported the governor terming her sentiments as justified since the herders had defied all warnings against crossing the boarders.
