Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has disputed claims of existence of divisions within the Jubilee party.
Nyoro said small differences being witnessed among some of the party legislators does not mean the ruling party was in disarray.
Speaking in Murang’a town Tuesday, the legislator said all elected leaders from Mount Kenya region were firmly behind the party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, save for a few MPs who are trying to create unnecessary differences.
The Kiharu MP, allied to tanga tanga group noted that only eight elected leaders from Mount Kenya region are in the kieleweke faction, a group he said is trying to bring divisions within the party.
He noted that the majority of leaders from the region have vowed to work together and support the government’s development agenda.
“It’s only a few leaders who want to take us back. But all the local residents are in Jubilee and this means the party was still intact as no voters have moved to the opposition side,” said Nyoro, while issuing bursaries to students joining universities from the constituency.
The MP asked fellow leaders to tone down on their political rhetoric at the moment and embark on serving the people who elected them.
Nyoro asked leaders especially those in the Jubilee party to embrace and tolerate each other so as to ensure the central region gets the much-needed development projects.
During the occasion, 469 students slated to join various universities were each given Sh10, 000 as bursary from the local National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The money will facilitate first-year students in the locality to report to universities where they have been admitted.
Meanwhile, Kiharu NG-CDF is in the process of constructing six secondary schools in the region with a view to supporting the country’s initiative of 100 percent transition from primary to secondary education.
Mjini area within Murang’a town will get one of the secondary schools which will be named after a local legendary politician, the late Kenneth Matiba.
The local NG-CDF has already released Sh2.2 million to kick start construction of the institution which expected to get its first intake in 2021.
