Wazito FC returned to the Kenyan Premier League with pomp and colour. They roped in the highest number of new players and conspicuously bought a ‘state-of-the-art’ bus to help ease their movements during league assignments. But Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi says the returnees have too much to swallow as they dream of winning the league title.

Going by how Wazito president Ricardo Badoer demonstrated the ability of his boys, and how Wazito fans were on cloud nine when the bus was finally unveiled ahead of the Kenyan Premier League 2019/20 season kick-off, everyone in Kenya would be scared of an incoming champion.

However, three matches into the season, the club has not registered a single win; their most recent match ending on a disappointing 1-0 loss to AFC Leopards. They had recorded dull draws against Nzoia Sugar and Western Stima.

Ben Omondi-the Gor Mahia SG has now come out to claim that Wazito is one of the clubs which can never scare K’Ogalo under all circumstances. He says they should just be satisfied with the bus because there is no way they are going to win the league.

“Wazito FC will soon run out of gas and start fighting for league survival because they don’t have what it takes yet, to pose a challenge. It is not always that easy. That when you have a new bus or a big bus with players picked from here and there, you automatically qualify to compete with bigwigs,” Omondi told Opera News.

From three matches, Wazito sit on the 15th spot of the 18-team league log. It will be fascinating to see how they square it out when they meet the 18-time Kenyan Premier League champions.
