Lawyers on Friday opened the will left by murdered Dutch businessman Tob Cohen.

It emerged that the biggest beneficiaries of the estate that he left behind are his sister Gabrielle Cohen and Bernard Cohen.

The biggest loser in the will opened by Lawyer Kirundi Chege is Cohen’s estranged wife Sarah Wairimu who got nothing.

Wairimu is the prime suspect in the murder of the businessman whose body was found in a water hole at his home in kitusuru 40 days after he was reported missing.

Cohen shared his property worth Sh700 million, which include property valued at around Sh700 million, cash and shares of his companies to his sister, brother, and children of his sister.

According to The Standard Newspaper, the biggest winner is Cohen’s sister Gabrielle Straten who has been bequeathed 50 per cent of the Kitusuru home, which is valued at Sh400 million.

Gabrielle’s two children will share the remaining 50 per cent of the home.

Gabrielle will also get all the shares held by Cohen in his companies which includes a tour firm Cohen Tours.

The Standard reports that she will also receive Sh100 million stashed in local and international banks. Cohen bequeathed his brother Sh50 million in a Dutch bank.

Wairumu, through her Lawyer Philip Murgor, said she will challenge the will in court.

Murgor said: “If our rights to the matrimonial home are in any way affected, we will fight to the Supreme Court”.

Other people who have challenged the will include two politicians who claimed that Cohen owed them at least Sh35 million.

Wairumu, on Thursday, said she would not attend the opening of the will because the contents had been exposed to media houses.

A Dutch newspaper last week reported that Cohen’s sister and brother were the major beneficiaries of his estate.
