Earlier last month, in a photo taken when he was taking part in a Kenya Footballers Welfare Association’s event, the player looked chubby and unfit for football. Many fans went ahead to question his ability to play properly for the second-most successful club AFC Leopards.

On Thursday, September 20, a photo showing the striker and team-mate Vincent Oburu, were used by the club to announce the travelling squad for their upcoming Kenyan Premier League match against moneybags Wazito FC. In the photo, Mukangula’s shape was conspicuous. His body looked toned-down and fit, to an extent that his tummy could not show on the bib.

One of the club’s Social Media admins has confided in Opera News by confirming that indeed the player has greatly transformed.

“It is true that Mukangula (Eugene) has made tremendous efforts to reduce his weight. I can confirm that he is now lighter and faster. And I think it’s a good thing for AFC Leopards,” the source told Opera News.

Mukangula joined AFC Leopards from Thika United in June 2018, and despite the fact that he has steadily gained weight during the period, he has been instrumental for the Andre Casa Mbungo-coached side.
