Photos: How Turkana Women Dressed Beyonce’s Daughter Like They Did to Akothee

Beyonce and her eldest child Blue Ivy dressed in Turkana-themed outfits during the Lion King’s ‘The Gift’ creation, Beyonce has revealed.

Blue Ivy was adorned in an African-beaded dress during this year’s Wearable Art Gala, an annual event that was started by Beyonce’s parents in 2016.

The theme of this year’s Wearable Art Gala was “A Journey to the Pride Lands”  which explains the incredible Lion King references.

Beyonce revealed in the recently-released ABC documentary that she was so impressed with the Turkana women in Kenya and their unique talent.

“The women of Kenya carry on the Cultural legacy of beading through their hands, their community and music. They have so much tradition in the way they create stories with beads,” she said.

Beyonce added that she was honored to have had the women work on Blue’s outfit for the gala.

“This dress is from Kenya. This is the circle of life,” Blue Ivy added.

During a charity visit to Turkana to donate food after the drought made headlines, Madam Boss Akothee also dressed in Turkana beadery. The Turkanas are truly spreading their culture through this beadwork.
