The two teams have met twice in the league registering one win apiece. Ingwe won the first encounter in March 2018 registering a hard-fought 3-2 win. Wazito avenged in August the same year beating Leopards 2-1 with Daniel Oswe scoring a spectacular winner from 35 yards in the dying embers of the game.

The two teams have also faced-off in cup competitions and friendly matches. The most recent was a friendly match played at Gems Cambridge School where Wazito won courtesy of a Mike Oduor deflected strike.

Meanwhile, Wazito coach Fred Ambani has noted an improvement in his team despite registering successive draws against Nzoia Sugar and Western Stima.

” We have seen a bit of improvement because the team was better than against Nzoia. We will take time to completely jell but so far we have to remain positive and continue working hard,” Ambani told Opera News after the match.

His Leopards counterpart Andre Casa Mbungo has called on fans to lay off striker Ismaila Diarra. The striker was on the receiving end of fans’ bashing during Sunday’s clash against Kariobangi Sharks and had to be taken off at halftime.

“Fans should understand that Diarra is new in the Kenyan league and that he needs time to adapt. He is a quality player, no doubt but he still needs to adjust and fans should understand that. We have only played two games and people shouldn’t make it appear like something big. He will score goals once he has fully adapted, I am sure about that. I call on the fans to rally behind the team irrespective of who is playing because they all represent AFC Leopards,” he said.
