Kenyan Striker Reveals Dream Of Playing In the Irish Top-flight

Former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards striker Paul Kiongera has revealed that he dreams of playing in the Irish top-flight league. Koingera signed for Irish amateur side Killarney Athletic and will wait for his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to make his debut for his new side.

Interestingly, Kiongera had initially gone to Ireland to visit his girlfriend’s parents though football remained a key priority.

However, in an exclusive interview, the striker said that the move is just a first step towards achieving his goal of playing in one of the Irish top-flight clubs.

”Of course, am happy that Killarney Athletic has agreed to sign me. Am proud of the move but it does not stop here, I want to work hard so I can make the step up to the Irish top league. First, though, I have to make a good impression here,” he said.

Kiongera who is a Manchester United fan also revealed that his childhood hero was English winger David Beckham. The striker is one of the few players to play for both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, the two biggest teams in Kenya.

He won the Kenyan Premier League title with Gor Mahia in 2013 scoring 8 goals in the process before making the move to Tanzania giants Simba FC where things did not work out due to injuries.

The striker has also played for Kenya Commercial Bank and National Super League side Ushuru FC.
