Ambani Not Worried by Waithira’s absence

Wazito FC coach Fred Ambani believes his side will cope with the absence of winger Joe Waithira for their clash against Western Stima in Kisumu.

Waithira will sit out of the Saturday September 14 Kenyan Premier League League match at Moi Stadium after picking a knock in training.

The stand-in skipper had just recovered from a back problem and was expected to travel with the rest of the squad but a knock ruled him out of the crunch clash.

“Joe is out of our game against Stima. He has a slight knock and we have decided to let him rest as he recovers. He should be available for our next game,” club physio Noel Mandi stated.

Ambani however believes that his team can cope well without the former Mt. Kenya United man. He backed Ghanaian Paul Acqua and Victor Ndinya to fill the void left by the stylish winger.

“His absence is definitely a blow but I think we have players who can replace him. We have Ndinya and Acqua who are both good wingers and so I am not worried because I believe they can do a good job,” he told Opera News.

Waithira is expected to fit for next weekend’s league match against AFC Leopards.

Meanwhile the former Kenyan international says his side will be going for a win against the Powermen. Wazito begun its 2019/20 campaign with a draw against Nzoia Sugar FC and Ambani has stated that they will go all out to get maximum points from the match.

“We want to win the match. We have prepared well and I believe that the boys will give their best to get maximum points. I know it will be a difficult game and we will fight to ensure we get a good result,” he added.

The match will kick off at 3PM.
