Official: Arsenal Midfielder Signs New Long Term Contract

Arsenal youngster Joe Willock has signed a new long term contract with the club. The 20-year-old has been with the Gunner since he was 4 years old.

Willock was promoted to the Arsenal first team this season following an impressive season with the Under 23 team and the occasional chance to play for the first team in cup competitions last year. He scored 3 times for Arsenal last season, once in the Europa League and 2 others in the FA Cup win over Blackpool in January this year.

He has made 20 appearances for Unai Emery’s team and started in the first 3 matches this season including the trip to face Liverpool at Anfield. He is one of 4 academy players at the Arsenal first team. The others are Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland Niles, and Emile Smith Rowe.

“Joe has progressed a lot in the last year. He is technically strong and has shown the confidence to take responsibility and play his game whatever the occasion or opposition. I’m looking forward to working with to help him develop further and fulfill his potential,” Head coach Unai Emery said.

On his part, Willock was proud of the new contract and said he is sure that Arsenal is the right club for him.
