“Team Tangatanga Using Cambridge Analytica to Forge Fake Letters”

State House Digital Communications guru Dennis Itumbi. He was arraigned in connection with the fake letter that claimed there was a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

Flamboyant City Lawyer, Donald Kipkorir, claims that the Tangatanga wing of the Jubilee Party is behind the fake letters that have recently rocked the government.

That movement is a factional group within the ruling party that supports Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

The other group, Kieleweke, is opposed to the bid and supports the March 2 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

According to the lawyer, interns who helped Cambridge Analytica, a British Political Consulting Group that the Jubilee Party contracted during the 2017 General Elections, are the source of the fake letters.

Donald alleged that the interns now work for the Tangatanga Digital Team.

Additionally, he seemed to suggest that the voter card presented by Jubilee candidate for the Kibra seat, MacDonald Mariga, to the IEBC on Tuesday could be fake.

The IEBC, on Tuesday, rejected Mariga’s candidature for the Kibra by-election over missing details in the voters’ register.

“Voter registration forgery is cakewalk,” he insinuated.

Fake Jubilee Letter

Last month, the Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju denied sending a list of the party’s Kibra by-election aspirants to the IEBC terming it fake.

“This letter doing rounds online is fake news. Please ignore and treat it with the contempt it deserves,” Tuju said.

The list featured the names of Mariga, Morris Peter Kinyanjui, Mukinyingi Walter Trenk, Said Ibrahim and Doreen Khayanga Wasike, who were interestingly also officially announced by the party as the aspirants for the Kibra mini poll later.

In June, a fake letter sparked fears of plans by some Cabinet Secretaries to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

The letter claimed that a meeting had been convened at Hotel La Mada to discuss how to shore up support for the president in Mt. Kenya and its diaspora and go on the offensive against DP Ruto.

After investigations carried out with the help of the Federal Bureau Investigations, the police arrested Dennis Itumbi and charged him over the fake letter.

Itumbi is out on bond.

The probe showed the letter was uploaded on Twitter and other social media platforms at a cyber café in Karen area, Nairobi.
