Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was on the spot for the wrong reasons for a second time after he was arrested by police officers on Monday evening.

Nyoro was apprehended minutes after a live interview at Kameme TV where officers had surrounded the premises.

The embattled Kiharu MP was later released at midnight and is set to appear in court on Tuesday.

The dramatic arrest of the lawmaker plunged Muranga town into chaos as residents took to the streets and blocked Kenyatta Highway with burning tyres.

Police were forced to shoot in the air and use tear gas in a bid to disperse the rowdy crowd.

The Muranga business community condemned the violence and called for the government to take strict measures against the hooligans.

According to Julius Rutere who is the Muranga County Criminal Investigations Officer, the vocal Nyoro will be charged with assault, resisting arrest and disrupting a Sunday church service at Gitui Catholic Church in Muranga County.

Muranga Senator Irungu Kang’ata however stated that Nyoro won’t be charged after an agreement was reached by the MP and state officials.

On the same day, the legislator had camped at Royal Media Services where he had gone to take refuge after being pursued by the law enforcers.

Reports had suggested that Nyoro used a vehicle belonging to one of his colleagues to get out of the station without getting noticed.

Orders of his arrest came after a confrontation ensued between him and nominated MP Maina Kamanda that lead to chaotic scenes and an abrupt end to the function.
