Mariga Officially Kickstarts Campaigns in Kibra

Barely five hours after Jubilee candidate Macdonald Mariga was officially handed his nomination certificate, the former footballer has officially kickstarted his campaigns.

In the photos shared online, Mariga who defeated nine other candidates in an interview to emerge the party’s flagbearer was seen leading a pack of other Jubilee leaders in the campaigns.

While presenting the certificate to Mariga earlier on, the party secretary-general Raphael Tuju called for a peaceful campaign period and election.

 

“We should all remember that there will be a winner and a loser but we will all remain to be Kenyans,” he stated.

On his part, Mariga thanked the party for believing in him and assured that he was equal to the task.

“Kazi ianze sasa..imebaki kwenda kwa mafans. (Let the work now begin. The only thing left now is to go to the supporters,” Mariga said before setting out kickstart his campaigns.

Mariga together with Jubilee Party officials was expected to present their papers to the IEBC by Tuesday 4 pm for clearance ahead of the Kibra by-election on November 7.

Among the leaders who accompanied Mariga included MPs Didmas Barasa (Kimilili), Caleb Kositany (Soy), Nixon Korir (Lang’ata) and Gladys Shollei (Uasin Gishu woman representative)

He was later joined for the campaigns by Starehe MP Charles Njagua and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale among other leaders.

Mariga is expected to square it out with ODM’s Bernard Okoth, ANC’s Eliud Owallo among other candidates.
