ODM Kibra’s aspirant resigns

Orange Democratic Party Organizing Secretary Sigar Agumba has resigned.

Agumba who was among the 10 candidates seeking to represent ODM in the Nov 7 blamed the party for not “supporting home-grown leaders”.

Agumba hinted at contesting for the Kibra parliamentary seat on a KANU ticket.

His resignation came as the party’s nomination was underway.

The voting exercise began at 6am and will close at 5pm to allow for vote counting.

IEBC declared the Kibra seat vacant following the death of MP Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer on July 26.

The by-elections which has been scheduled for November 7 has attracted candidates from different parties.

Jubilee Party selected for MacDonald Mariga to represent them in the race.

Former Prime Minister aide Eliud Owalo will vie for the seat under the Alliance Party of Kenya.
