Former Newcastle FC strikers Allan Shearer and Micheal Own had a nasty beef on Twitter for the better part of Tuesday afternoon. The beef stemmed from quotes by Micheal Owen in his new book ‘Reboot-My life, My time.’

Micheal Owen explains his relationship with Newcastle fans following an injury-ravaged spell with the club that ended in the team being relegated to the Championship while the striker joined Manchester United.

The 39-year-old former England captain also claimed Newcastle was “only a big club in the sense that it has a lot of fans and a big stadium.” Allan Sharer who was teammates with Owen at the time responded to further claims by Owen that he did not like the last 7 years of his career and could not wait to retire.

Owen, in turn, replied questioning Shearer’s commitment to Newcastle and revealed that the English striker was n the verge of joining Liverpool after being put on the bench by legendary manager Sir Bobby Robson.

The row prompted lots of reactions on Twitter from fans who picked their sides on who they thought was right in the argument.

Some could not bother to care though..
