Wazito FC will be without two players for their opening Kenya Premier League match of the season against Nzoia Sugar this Saturday.

Midfielder Teddy Osok and keeper Steven Njuge will both miss the match with a back knock and quadriceps strain respectively. Both players are expected to be out for at least one more week.

“Teddy has a back problem. He suffered a slight knock and he will be out for around one week. Njuge has a quadriceps strain and he is also out for a week. After that I think they will be available for selection, “ team physio Noel Mandi told the club’s website.

Eric ‘Ero’ Odhiambo, Dennis Gicheru, and Zachary Gathu are all long-term absentees after undergoing surgery. All three are currently on rehabilitation.

Wazito was promoted to the Kenyan Premier League after clinching the National Super League title last season. The team has a very strong financial muscle and demonstrated exactly that in the Transfer window by signing over 10 players among them striker Micheal Oduor from Sofapaka and former Harambee Stars midfielder Ali Hassan Abondo.

The team showed positive signs in a pre-season friendly tournament played last weekend where they beat Mathare United 4-1 before drawing 1-1 with KCB and finally they beat Kenya Premier League heavyweight AFC Leopards with a solitary goal in the final match.
