News that Rosemary Odinga will not vie in the Kibra by-elections have elicited different reactions on social media.
Rosemary, the daughter of ODM leader Raila Odinga, announced on Sunday that she is not in contention to replace Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer last month.
βI will not be able to vie in Kibra, but I wanted to come here today to greet and talk to you and to say I will keep interacting with you to the end,β Rosemary said during an ODM rally in Kibra on Sunday.
Rosemary had declared her interest in the Kibra seatΒ in 2017 elections but bowed out due to health-related issues.
Rosemary Odinga is not vying. Now you can relax and direct Tangatanga propaganda elsewhere. https://t.co/zPDatjk1vx

Before Sunday’s rally, there was a lot of speculation that Rosemary was one of the numerous candidates eying the ODM ticket.
Whether you use sympathy or emotion,I don’t support Rosemary Odinga’s candidature. As members of working class,we have been conditioned to fear and worship those from ruling class.Kibra needs one of their own. I doubt this beautiful daughter of Jakom understands life in slum pic.twitter.com/RcSCtBlSce

The fact that Rosemary Odinga has come this far in her recovery is worthy of praise to God. If it’s her will to serve God’s people under the capacity of Kibra MP, so be it. We can’t change the fact that she will always be Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s daughter. #KibraByelection pic.twitter.com/tyQfo7uYwb

On this, I can emphatically say that @Rosemary_Odinga is truly qualified to take on the challenge of becoming KIBRA MP. Regardless of the ‘Dynastiy’ tag that is bound to be bandied around, she has impeccable credentials and genuinely concern for the citizens of Kibra.
