Imran Okoth, brother to the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, was on Sunday forced to cut short his speech after being heckled by irate Kibra residents.
Imran who is among politicians who have declared interest in the race to succeed Okoth using the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) ticket, was speaking before the ugly scene took place at Kamukunji grounds.
Reports have it that Imran’s role in Ken Okoth’s cremation was the reason behind the heckling as he went against the wishes of Kibra residents who wanted him buried.
However, according to a section Kenyans on Twitter (KoT), the ODM leadership intentionally played a major role in creating the ugly scenes.
The ODM party was at the forefront overseeing the whole cremation event which has now turned Kibra residents against Imran.
“I just knew Imran Okoth‘s Kibra constituency aspirations died when he danced to the tune of imperialists and cremated his brother Ken Okoth. ODM supporters in Nairobi are unforgiving. For Imran to revive his ambitions, he must bring a fresh body of Okoth for traditional burial,” one Abuga Makori wrote.
