Kipkirui with a brace as Gor Mahia thrash Aigle Noir

Gor Mahia advanced in the CAF Champions League following a 5-1 thrashing of Aigle Noir in the second leg of their tie held at the Kasarani Stadium. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw but at home, Gor Mahia was a different beast.

Steven Pollack’s side went ahead in the 9th minute following an own goal from Aigle Noir. Gor Mahia were applying relentless pressure on the visitors and doubled their lead after just quarter of an hour with a Nicholas Kikirui header from a Kenneth Muguna corner.

Kipkirui would then get his second of the match and Gor Mahia’s third in the 30th minute after being set up with a brilliant overhead flick from Ambudo. Robert Mapigano made a really good save from the only attack the visitor’s made in the 41st minute.

Ambudo got on the score sheet himself shortly after the second half began with a rasping shot from inside the box to send Kasarani Stadium into a frenzy! The youngster was impressive all through and again provided the assist for Gor Mahia’s 5th goal.

His checky backheel flick was met by Boniface Omondi who wared his boot perfectly around the ball and sent it into the top corner. The visitors did get their consolation goal after uncertainty from the Gor Mahia backline allowed their forward to coolly slot the ball past the onrushing Mapigano.

The Green army march on into the next round!
