New boys shine as KCB whip AFC Leopards in friendly

Image result for KCB FCKCB new players Ian Motanda and Steven Onyango were on target as KCB defeated AFC Leopards 2-0 in a pre-season friendly match played at Gems Cambridge International school ground on Thursday morning.

Motanda opened the scoring in the 20th minute after making the most of a Dennis Sikhayi defensive error. Onyango then doubled the lead eight minutes into the second half after racing past Ingwe defenders.

The match was largely balanced in the opening stages with both teams going all out in search of goals. Motanda, Clinton Kisiavuki, and Simon Abuko led the Bankers’ attack. For Leopards Vincent Oburu, new-boy Ismaila Diarra and Jeffery Owiti were tasked with their goals’ hunt.

Against the run of play, KCB went ahead through Ian Motanda. The former Kisumu AllStars man capitalized on an error from Dennis Sikhayi to fire past a helpless Benjamin Ochan on Leopards’ goal.

Leopards showed massive improvement after going down. Tresor Ndikumana twice came close to breaking the deadlock while Malian Ismaila Diarra rattled the side net. The Bankers took a one-goal lead to the break.

Eight minutes into the second half, KCB doubled their lead through another new-boy, Steven Onyango. The former Fortune Sacco man raced through on goal before firing on goal. His initial effort was saved by Ochan but he was there to fire home on the rebound.

Zedekiah Otieno’s side continued to dominate proceedings knocking the ball around in search of more goals. Despite creating numerous chances, the Bankers failed to utilize them and in the end, they settled for a 2-0 win. They defeated Mathare United 4-2 on Wednesday and finish with a match against Wazito FC on Friday morning.

Leopards on the other end will play  Mathare United on Friday before ending the tournament with a match against Wazito FC on Saturday morning.
