Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has denied allegations that he is Raila Odinga’s point man in the Rift Valley Region.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV’s Hussein Mohammed on Tuesday, The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM)Party leader claimed that he has never been anybody’s point man in his life.

However, the former Chepalungu MP said that he is ready to work with anyone including Raila Odinga if their political ideologies converge.

“I have never been anybody’s point man. If the issues I am pursuing converge with yours, there is absolutely no reason as to why we should not move together,” he said

Ruto revealed that his meeting with Raila was not political.  He went to convince the former Prime Minister to stop the looming Mau eviction. He argued out that the 60,000 people targeted in the mass eviction have not encroached on government land.

“We were not there on political matters. We were there to talk to Raila on the Mau question I know that those people have not encroached on gov’t land,” he said.

On matters referendum, he insisted that the country needs to adopt a parliamentary system of governance. He reiterated his earlier sentiments that Cabinet Secretaries should be picked from the Members of the National assembly.

“In my opinion, a Cabinet Secretary should be the ‘political’ head of a Ministry. Gov’t as of now has only 2 people Kenyans can understand-The President and his Deputy. The rest have no mandate.”
