Bandari United head Coach Bernard Mwalala has criticized Gor Mahia’s timewasting tactics during their Supercup loss at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Lawrence Juma’s deflected shot was enough to claim the first trophy of the season for Gor Mahia but Mwalala was left unimpressed.

Speaking after the match, Mwalala bemoaned Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper David Mapigano’s time-wasting especially after the Champions went ahead on the hour mark.

”To be honest, I think we only played 70 minutes of the match as their goalkeeper spent most of the time lying on the ground especially after they scored. Am not saying it’s the reason we lost but it was a huge factor in the outcome of the match,” Mwalala said after the match.

The former Nzoia Sugar tactician was however proud of his team and said his players have shown that they are ready for the new Kenya Premier League season.

”The players did what was expected of them and on the balance of play, I think we deserved to win and were the better team,” he added.

The coastal baed side finished last season in second place and will kickstart their new League season with an away clash against Mathare United on the 31st of August.
