Deputy President William Ruto has a strategy of pulling masses to himself by splashing millions of donations and the strategy now seems to be working in some of his political ‘enemies’ strongholds.
On Thursday Ruto was heaped with praises in Turkana County, a major stronghold for Opposition Leader Raila Odinga after he handed over thirty motorbikes to Lodwar and Kanamkemer youth groups.
Dr. Ruto was attending this year’s edition of the Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival, Tobong’u Lore which attracted politicians from all spheres among them Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and the Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.
“Empowering young people to start small businesses, boosting their capital base to expand and grow profits is key for self-reliance and realizing sustainable livelihoods. Handed over 30 motorbikes to Lodwar and Kanamkemer youth groups, Turkana Central, Turkana County,” Ruto said.
Speaking during the event, the second in command further encouraged the residents to continue holding such events which celebrate Kenyans traditions.
“Cultural immersion enables us to appreciate, interact with and celebrate our traditions. It promotes the participation of communities in cultural life and dialogue; enhances knowledge, cultural heritage; boosts cultural tourism and builds inclusive societies”.
