How Raila is Preparing for the Four Presidents Launch in Kisumu

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga is all set for the launch the Sh3 billion Kisumu port and is not ready to leave any stone unturned in Western Kenya’s biggest projects that will be launched by the Eat Africa’s four presidents.

On Thursday, Raila received a briefing from four governments key stakeholders of the project to ascertain the progress of the Special Economic Zone in Kisumu, the revival of KICOMI and related projects in the region.

Among the leaders in Raila’s briefing were the rade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Hon. Peter Munya,CEO of the Special Economic Zones authority Dr. Meshack Kimeu and the acting CEO of the Export Processing Zones Authority Mr. George Makateto. They were joined by the governor of Kisumu County Prof. Peter Anyang Nyongo.

The AU envoy expressed satisfaction with progress towards setting up the SEZ in Kisumu which included the efforts involved in the acquisition of more land for the project.

Raila further ordered that the ministry to fastrack both projects in close collaboration with the county government and local institutions of higher learning.

The Kisumu port project is one of the many benefits that the former Prime Minister received since getting into the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila has also been raising concerns on the increased number of briefings that he has been receiving from various cabinet secretaries in the ministries.
