Gor Mahia captain reacts to their barren draw in Bujumbura

Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna has expressed his excitement with how they played in the CAF Champions League preliminary round in Bujumbura, Burundi.

The Kenyan giants managed to hold Aigle Noir to a scoreless draw in the first leg despite missing some of their key players through suspension, injuries, and other logistics.

K’Ogalo head coach Steven Pollack had earlier stated that he was impressed by how his boys played. “I was very impressed by the players’ attitude during the entire trip. The build-up was difficult but they performed well and I’m happy with the result. I only trained with them once but I’m happy that their response is already showing,” said Pollack.

And captain Muguna has reiterated his words and is hopeful that they will perform better in their second leg match in Nairobi.

“We had a good game yesterday (against Aigle Noir) and like always, in CAF matches we face Champions. The second leg we hope it will be better. We have to win since we want to qualify to the next round, ” stated Muguna.

K’Ogalo will host the return leg in Kasarani stadium on 25th August. Gor Mahia must win at home to progress at the expense of Aigle Noir. A scoring draw will see the Burundi outfit through the courtesy of away goals rule.
