Leopards, Gor Mahia fans banter over unveiling of new signings

As we wait for the 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League season to begin on 30 August 2019, different teams have begun to trigger their rivalry. Currently, Kenyan clubs are in a recruiting spree and the business of buying and selling of players is booming in the country.

All clubs are bringing in new players to bolster their squads ahead of next season with an aim to compete for trophies. And next season might see an enthralling race as bigwigs; Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards who have already unveiled their new signings.

Leopards unveiled their seven new players on 21 July 2019 at Mumia Sports Complex stadium. They are; goalkeeper, Benjamin Ochan, Defenders, Robert Mudenyu Ayala, and Soter Kayumba, midfielders, Tresor Ndikumana, and Vincent Habamahoro, and strikers, Hansel Ochieng, and Ismail Diarra. Ingwe will bring on board three or four more players.

K’Ogalo, on their part, conducted their unveiling ceremony on Thursday 8 August 2019 before a battery of journalists and a few club faithful in Nairobi. Below are the players introduced by the Green Army yesterday.

Goalkeepers: David Mapigano and Caleb Omondi.

Defenders: Elvis Ronack, Maurice Ojwang, Abdala Shira, Alphonse Omija. Richdonald Bolo,

Midfielders: Geoffrey Omondi, Tobias Otieno, Curtis Wekesa, Lloyd Khavuchi.

Attackers: Gnamien Yikpei, Francis Afriyie, Dickson Ambundo, Sam Osoo, Kennedy Otieno, Dennis Oalo.

Assistant Coach – Patrick Odhiambo

Head Coach – Steven Pollack

Interestingly, fans of the two Kenyan giants stormed social media to spark their rivalry. This time around it was not about a football match but about their unveiling ceremonies. Every club was claiming their side did better than the other.
