We are all thieves, it’s only that some of us lack opportunities! These are the exact expressions from some of the Kenyans just a day after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that almost every Kenyan is a thief of public money.

While speaking on Tuesday during the launch of the National Youth Week at the University of Embu, Magoha said that graft and embezzlement of public property is widespread in Kenya and that nearly every Kenyan is a thief by nature which has resulted in poverty and joblessness in the country.

Magoha promised to seal all corruption loopholes in the Ministry even if it means defending it with his own life.

“Almost everyone in this country is a thief. Lack of accountability in the use of available resources is causing joblessness. I’m trying to seal the leakage in the Ministry of Education at all costs, even if that will cost my life,” he said.

Magoha’s sentiments were highly approved by most Kenyans who noted in unison that most of them were thieves by nature and that most of them only lacked opportunities.

Many recalled the day when Safaricom’s bundle system ‘misbehaved’ giving a lifetime opportunity for many Kenyans to redeem free data bundles. A technical error of just an hour nearly brought Safaricom to its knees.

Here are some reactions from Kenyans;

Abandu Okeu Suna Very true. We accept bribes from politicians, we steal from our parents, we fake vouchers at work to claim more, telcos steal your coins while asleep… #Truth

Nicholas Juma Wanyama He is right! Theft is the brand name for Kenyans 😊. Check out there if you can find a clean politician who has not stolen, very few.

Robert Alu “Almost every Kenyan is a thief”, Phillip Otieno Olan’g But there is only ONE Magoha.

Jacinta Kilele He should have listened to a conversation I happened to listen in a matatu, between two secondary school principals!!! From taking home school office laptops, colluding with suppliers..etc!!

Luke Mutinda CS MAGOHA is right. If we have a shs3.2 trillion budget and shs1trillion is stolen how would we expect to develop? How shall we end poverty? Money stolen is directed to real estate development. Too many buildings with relatively too many poor citizen who can’t afford to occupy the developments.
If stolen money was used to create real/true employment life could at least be better.
Our LOOTERS steal for their children and close friends /partners to buy @30 million posh cars to just drive around e.g. the NYS naivasha Ngiritas family.
