The prophecy made by the then Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Managing Director, the late Sammy Kioko Mangéli, has come to pass.
Nine years ago, Mang’eli warned Kenyans of a possible rising cancer cases, predominantly being brain cancer, within the next 10 to 15 years as a result of consumption of maize flour with high levels of aflatoxin.
“I’m more than 100 per cent sure it (aflatoxin) affects people and that within the next 10 to 15 years we will have serious cases of cancer based on this maize,” Mangéli stated.

Through his confession, he revealed that the country which was still under the leadership of President Mwai Kibaki forcefully released the maize laced with cancer causing chemicals that is currently haunting the nation.
A section of the online community have vented their disappointment after receiving this information. One social media user by the name,Janam Lolwe has reiterated on the prophecy saying that the cancer is ‘eating away the innocent souls.’
“The 10-15 years he’s referring to is here with us since he was saying this 10 years ago,” Janam stated.

The cost of its treatment currently in Kenya is just expensive for ‘Wanjiku’ to afford.
UNAFFORDABLE: Here’s the average monthly cost of common #cancer medication in Kenya. Safe to say, these costs are wildly beyond the capability of majority of #Kenyans pic.twitter.com/SmShVRzwKe
