Deputy President William Ruto’s remarks on why ‘they’ agreed to bring ODM leader Raila Odinga into government through the famous March 2018 handshake flopped badly after a section of social media users trolled him.
While addressing worshippers when he attended a Sunday service at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Murarandia, Kiharu, Murang’a County, Ruto said that they decided as Jubilee government to bring in opposition leader Raila Odinga so as to teach him how the work is being done.
“Empty rhetorics will never change this country. We even decided to invite those who were busy demonstrating and making a lot of noises into the government so that we can lecture them on how work is supposed to be done so that they can stop demonstrations and unnecessary noises” Said Ruto.

His sentiments were however received with mixed reactions from social media users who accused Ruto of majoring in lies. Many questioned how Ruto who has been opposing the handshake could claim that he took part in hosting Raila in the government.
