Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is a man under siege as the six charges in Sh588 million graft charges facing him seem to have rendered him a number of sleepless nights.
The embattled boss and his wife Susan Wangari spent Sunday night at the EACC offices following their surrender earlier in the afternoon.
While appearing before magistrate Lawrence Mugambi at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, Waititu’s lack of sufficient sleep was evident. Baba Yao was captured on camera taking a power nap during the hearing for his bail application.
Waititu, his wife Susan and 8 other co-accused denied graft charges, with magistrate Mugambi sending them back to detention for another night. Ruling on their bail application is to be ruled on Tuesday.
However, Baba Yao seems to have turned taking naps in public a norm as that was not the first time he was captured. In a viral photo, the county boss has become a subject for ridicule after a photo exposed him comfortably taking a heavy nap at a sitting position surrounded by church women.
In the meantime, here is the video of Waititu catching some much-needed sleep in court;

Waititu’s video has attracted mixed reactions from netizens with majority bashing him for making a mockery of the judicial system. Here is what Kenyans have to say;
It seems the language being used here is not familiar to him but he hear it as a lullaby song soothing him to sleep, boy child is down

Such is the mockery of our judicial system. We hack and slice chicken thieves on the spot while billions thieves doze-off during proceedings knowing all to well they’ll walk away -scotfree. Sad!

The dude was even sleeping on the cell floors while the others were awake

Relaxed since he knows what the outcome will be and the bond charge is almost 0% of the loot.

Poverty is bad , loathe, I can’t even find sleep on my bed, and waititu is sleeping in a courtroom

At least it’s good being a rich thief, you can afford the best lawyers. People should stop stealing chicken if they are poor. Justice will be served on the road side
