An undated video has now emerged online showing former Kiambu governor William Kabogo warning the residents against electing incompetent leaders.

Kabogo is seen acknowledging that the governor’s post isn’t easy as some people might think, noting that some people referring to Waititu are only interested in Making money and not to serve society.

“If you chase me, I will go home with my head high, I will not look back but I know this guy is only interested in making money,” Kabogo said.

Just two years in office, Waititu has been accused of misappropriation of public resources by awarding self and close associates County tenders.

On Wednesday, the governor and his wife were released on Ksh15 million bail, while his wife’s bail was set at Ksh 4 million.

In his ruling, Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi at Milimani Law Courts further directed that Governor Waititu and all accused county officials be barred from accessing the Kiambu County offices until the case is heard and determined.

Governor Waititu was charged with conflict of interest for allegedly receiving Ksh. 25,624,500 from Testimony Enterprises Limited; a company that had been awarded contracts by the Kiambu County Government.

The court heard that between July 2, 2018, and March 13, 2019, is the Director of Saika Two Estate Developers Ltd, Waititu received Ksh. 18,410,500 from Testimony Enterprises Limited.

The governor and his wife also faced a joint charge of dealing with suspect property. They were accused that being proprietors of Bienvenue Delta Hotel they jointly received Ksh. 7,214,000 from Testimony Enterprises Limited through corrupt conduct.
