Institute signs MoU to build capacity on data, analytics

ADDIS ABABA – Technology and Innovation Institute of Ethiopia (TECHIN2) and Zenysis Technologies signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build local capacity in big data and advanced analytics, The Ethiopian Herald learnt.

As stated on yesterday’s signing ceremony, this strategic partnership agreement represents a significant step in Ethiopia’s effort to accelerate its development ambitions through data science and interoperability.

Director General of TECHIN2 Sandokan Debebe, and Regional Director for Zenysis Technologies Bernard Laurendeau signed the MoU on the premises of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

Sandokan on the occasion said that this new partnership is expected to bring about the required knowledge transfer and build local capacity to enable Ethiopian public institutions leverage their data.

The innovation is said to have come at an important time for Ethiopia as it seeks to leverage new and innovative information technologies in order to accelerate its effort towards tackling its development challenges.

Laurendeau on his part stated that big data and analytics technologies have been used around the world to bring reliable and timely information to decision makers and analysts and enable them to make evidence-based decisions.
