Court Orders For the Arrest of Governor Anyang Nyong’o

Kisumu Governor elect Anyang' Nyong'o.

The High Court has today ordered the arrests of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his sister Risper Nyagoy for contempt of Court.

The two have been committed  to a 30-day civil jail.

Nyong’o and his sister have been involved in a case concerning the division of family property.

In May, the two were fined Sh400,000 each after they failed to attend Court sessions. They were to be sentenced in May 28 but failed to turn up in Court with Justice Thripsisa Cherere pushing the sentencing to 30th May, a day they also failed to appear in Court.

The Judge seem to have finally had enough of the two and has therefore called for their arrest with the duo facing upto one month in jail

They will further be fined Sh50,000 each month should they continue to be in contempt of court for the next 30 days and in the event they fail to file books of accounts on how the property has been handled.

Cherere had in October last year ordered Nyong’o and Nyagoy to include all the children belonging to their sisters as beneficiaries to their father’s Sh200 million estate.
