Kenyans on Twitter(kot)have opposed the shortlisting of immediate former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) director general John Njiraini to the position of chairperson of the National Land Commission (NLC).
Ex-KRA boss is among the 11 candidates shortlisted for that top job at NLC after Muhammad Swazuri’s term ended in February having served for six years since 2013.
But from the look things, most Kenyans are tired of seeing same old faces in leadership positions such as Njiriani.
His shortlisting has evoked the feeling that President Uhuru Kenyatta is only determined to award his fellow tribesmen. One twitter user as gone ahead to release a list that paints the picture of tribalism in Uhuru’s administration.
If you take out Njiraini and replace him with his tribesman, this is the latest list of top management in a PUBLIC body. Meanwhile @NCIC_Kenya is fighting bloggers pic.twitter.com/n7zBV4MLDJ

Another person has accused the government of sanctifying some thieves while others continue to prove to be untouchable. The case of Njiraini in avoidance of paying tax and that involving CS Fred Matiang’i and Ruaraka land scam serving as perfect example.

The shortlisting of Njiraini as been termed as an insult to the young generation who are really struggling to get jobs. Most youths continue to languish in unemployment menace as Uhuru recycle’s leadership in top ‘plum positions.’
Really!!!!John Njiraini shortlisted for NLC chairperson???That's a total insult to the young generation who are real struggling to get jobs..Mr.President show your commitment to supporting the youths…##fightforyouthspace

Njiraini has spent the best and most part of his life in public office corridors. What more does he have to give to the nation, esp. when young brilliant men and women out of our varsities are languishing on the streets without jobs? This amount of stupidity must be rejected.

During Njiraini’s reign at KRA, he undervalued a Sh2.93 billion property acquired in Nairobi, denying the taxman millions of shillings in stamp duty after paying only Sh160.
JOHN NJIRAINI former @KRACare CG was implicated in tax evasion. He has been shortlisted to chair NLC. Where is @EACCKenya @ODPP_KE

But somehow, Njiraini seemingly survived the tax avoidance charges and is now on the verge of landing another top job at The National Lands Commission.
Others who have been shortlisted for the chairperson position include former Nyeri MP Esther Murugi, lawyers Gerishom Otachi and Paul Musili, Mwenda Makathimo, Robert Kilimo, Humphrey Njuguna, Naomi Wagereka, Tiyah Galgalo, and Hussein Farah.
