Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha recently called the Community ‘very stupid’ for only capitalizing on University Education as a guarantee for employment.

In his speech Magoha called those University Graduates without jobs as “fools.”

He simply insinuated that University is not a guarantee for employment and people can settle on other technical skills which offer almost very ready employment opportunities such as being a plumber.

The exiled lawyer Dr Miguna Miguna has not bought into Prof Magoha’s idea that University Education is as Useless as Magoha made it look.

In  Miguna’s point of view, he has argued that People just don’t go to University to get employment, but it has more benefits to the country. Lawyer Miguna has claimed that Kenya needs university-trained researchers, thinkers and policy wonks.

“Education is not meant for employment only. Challenge the QUALITY of Kenya’s education system without fallaciously arguing like you do that Kenya’s educated youth are jobless because they went to university. Kenya needs university-trained researchers, thinkers and policy wonks,”Miguna stated.

The NRM General has further stated that their is no country in the world which has developed without offering rigorous, quality tertiary training of its children.

He has further argued that Theoretical and research training is an essential requirement for modern development.

“There is no modern country in the world which has developed and prospered without offering rigorous, quality tertiary training of its children. Theoretical and research training is an essential requirement for modern development. We can’t turn all our children into plumbers,”Miguna insisted.

Miguna has since rubbished those arguments which have been justified by the late Bob Collymore’s level of education which intends to turn the country into artisans, plumbers and handy-men state.

“Those harping on Bob Collymore and Micheal Joseph’s mediocre training as an excuse for turning Kenya’s future generations into artisans, plumbers and handy-men must be told that we need proper training in ALL CATEGORIES OF LEARNING and OCCUPATIONS. Not less,” Miguna retorted.
