Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong now risks facing ODM’s disciplinary action after he declared his support for Dr. William Ruto despite being an ODM member.

Ojaamong’s support for Ruto together with Teso South MP Geoffrey Omuse and some ward MCAs from Teso have caused some uproar inside ODM party with some members calling for the disciplining of the errand members.

ODM chairman Busia branch, Mr. Patrick Obongoya maintained that Ojamamong together with other rebel leaders from the region who have associated themselves with William Ruto will be summoned by his office before their case is forwarded to the party’s headquarters for further actions.

“We are not pleased with some of Ojaamong and Mr. Omuse’s recent sentiments which clearly showed there were other hidden intentions when the two met in William Ruto’s Sugoi home in January,” said Mr. Obongonya who is also a nominated MCA.

He said that the party’s General Secretary Mr. Edwin Sifuna was already aware of the same and the plans the party was planning to take on them.

In January 2019 after being hosted by DP Ruto at his Sugoi home, an influential member of Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s Orange party, Ojaamong’ said the Teso community would form an “army” that will mobilize grassroots support to strengthen Ruto’s 2022 bid.

Ojaamong’ whose second gubernatorial term is ending in 2022, urged his community to join hands together as he (Ojaamong’) is more focused on the future ahead.

“Bwana deputy president we are together. Just like they say, in asking a Teso woman hand in marriage, one must start early. We have come here like a whole army and no one will threaten us. We are men. We have come here to see what is good for our people and open more doors in the future,” said Ojaamong in the past.

This is not the first time the ODM party is taking actions on its errand members. Earlier this year, the party took some disciplinary measures on Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa although the vocal MP was later saved by the courts after his lawyer Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen petitioned against the action.
