Unai Emery hails Edu impact at Arsenal as Gunners thrash Kroenke’s team

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has hailed the clubs new Techincal Director Edu terming him as a hard worker and an ‘Arsenal man’. Edu was appointed last week and will work closely with Unai Emery’s first-team in deciding who needs to go and which players the clubs should bring in.

Speaking after Arsenal’s first pre-season match against Colorado Rapids, the Spaniard who also coached Edu while at Valencia tipped Edu to be a success at the Emirates.

“He (Edu) has experience. He knows Arsenal. He’s a very good worker for us in this sporting director job. Raul, Vinai and I were trying to find the best person who can help us with experience and also with knowing this club. It’s Edu. For me he’s the perfect man to do that,” said Emery.

Arsenal has signed just a single player this window, an 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli from Brazil side Ituano. The forward however socred on his Arsenal debut helping the Gunners to a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.

Interestingly, the team is owned by Stan Kroenke who also has full ownership of the Gunners. He was in attendance accompanied by his son Josh Kroenke.

Unai Emery fielded a young Arsenal side but the kids were still too good for the Americans.

Arsenal took the lead in the first half through exciting winger Bukayo Saka before Olayinka added a second with a fine striker from 25 yards out. Martinelli made it 3-0 with a dream debut goal later on.

Next up for the Unai emery’s side is the International Champions Cup competition where they will face off with Bayern Munich n Thursday, Fiorentina on Sunday before a mouth-watering clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday next week.
