Ruto and Raila show a good example of how the country should work

Kenyan politicians have been changing political loyalty after every presidential election, conveniently embracing erstwhile opponents and undermining erstwhile friends leaving voters in a Twitter flame war over politics.

Ruto and Raila are yet to meet eye to eye since the surprise ceasefire which cooled political temperatures in Kenya after the 2017 elections.

As Kenyans continue to suffer in the hard economic times, the development of the country and focus of big four agenda which aims at achieving vision 2030 has continuously been disrupted by some heated political argument which is mostly pointless, of course, but they reveal a deeper truth about politics in general.

Since the election of Kenyatta, the zealot wars have become more intense and never seem to end. The divisions are growing deeper. Politics seems to divide the country between friends and enemies but Kenyans have been left to themselves to suffer.

However, Kenyans witnessed a rare public display of unity between two political rivals, Raila and Ruto who sat side by side while launching the policy document dubbed the integrated national export development and promotion strategy during the official opening of the Kenya Trade Week and Expo 2019.

Kenyans applauded the two leaders when they sat side by side to deliberate interventions on how to grow the country’s export markets and forgetting their political differences.

What Kenyans saw during the official opening of the Kenya Trade Week and Expo 2019 when the three leaders met is a contrast in perspectives about how the country can and should work.

But the questions that Kenyans still are finding to solve is; Is it all about peace, trade, and progress for everyone? Or is it all about struggle, destruction, victory, and rule?

Kenya has different histories, traditions, cultures, ideologies and mindsets. But I dare say, all of them need liberty and prosperity and all this can be achieved when leaders sit together and seek to pursue a comm0n goal that benefits all Kenyans.
