Former Sofapaka captain set to join KCB

Immediate former Sofapaka captain Steven Waruru is set to join Kenyan Premier League side, KCB, Opera News can report.

The attacker recently announced his departure from the 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions owing to a financial crisis that has rocked the club.

He has been training with the Bankers for the last one week and Opera News now understands that coach Zedekiah Otieno will rope in the former Thika United and Ulinzi Stars attacker in the next few days.

“Waruru is joining KCB, he has been training with them and coach Zico wants to sign him. He had a few other offers fromĀ  Kenyan Premier League clubs and outside the country but he has made up his mind, he will move to KCB,” a source from the club told Opera News.

Waruru started his career at Thika United before crossing to Ulinzi Stars where he joined the military and turned out for the side.

After close to a decade with the military side, he left the club and joined Batoto Ba Mungu in January 2018. When Mathias Kigonya exited the club in November 2018, he was named club captain.

At KCB he will become the club’s third signing after the arrival of Steven Onyango from Fortune Sacco and Ian Motanda from Kisumu Allstars.
