Saruni, Mainge in as Harambee Stars CHAN squad is named

Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne has released his preliminary Harambee Stars squad that will play Tanzania in African Championship (CHAN) qualification matches in July and August.

After facing off in the African Cup of Nations where Kenya won 3-2, the two teams will face-off once again in a two-legged qualification duel. The first leg will be staged in Tanzania on 28th July while the return leg will be played in Kenya on 4th August.

A number of players who were initially in the team he named in May are not in the new list. They include Allan Wanga who announced his retirement from international football, Bandari keeper Farouk Shikalo who has been linked with a move to Yanga and his teammate Abdallah Hassan who is heading to Maritzburg United in South Africa.

Others are Gor Mahia defender Charles Momanyi, AFC Leopards’ David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng, Kariobangi Sharks captain Eric Juma, Ulinzi Stars midfielder Ibrahim Shambi ,Wazito’s Joe Waithira, Cliff Nyakeya who has moved to Masr FC in Egypt and Francis Kahata who has since moved to Tanzanian giants, Simba SC.

There are two new inclusions. They include AFC Leopards right-back Yusuf Mainge and Ulinzi keeper James Saruni.
