The legalize it a debate is not new in the with a good number of Kenyans on Monday flock the social media calling for its decriminalization.
On September 21, 2018, Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth devised a proposal seeking to have marijuana decriminalized in Kenya.Listed in the Standing Order 114(1), Okoth’s sketch of Marijuana Control Bill 2018 covered four arguments highlighting potential benefits that the country could have upon the adoption of the law.
The legislator is also pushing for decriminalization of handling of the drug and amnesty for those who may have been prosecuted for using or growing the plant.
Okoth is pushing for proper regulation of the marijuana farming sector. This he says will cater for the growers, traders and protecting minors once the step is achieved.He is further urging the government to set up institutions of research to aid in medical use of the product as well as other areas regarding intellectual property rights.
Majority of Kenyans who are now pushing for the same argue that there is no need to decremainalize it since it is already common among many Kenyans.
Here is what a good number of Kenyans have to say;

There is misconception on my end. I believe what Marijuana does is bring out one's underlying personality. Same to what happens when you take alcohol you become more honest. My analogy is:-
"A Thief is just a thief, It's not Marijuana that makes them steal,"#whyLegalizeIt https://t.co/RnwWJDxXFM

“Many families have been selling bhang for years. It has enabled them to educate their children to university. It has sustained them economically all these years. I think legalization of bhang would create wealth for millions of Kenyans’’ Said one Kisumu resident. #WhyLegalizeIt
