Kagame Cup: Proline, AS Port pick wins

Gabriel Gadzie grabbed a brace as Djibouti’s AS port stunned Zanzibar’s Kikosi Maalum cha Kuzuia Magendo Football Club (KMKM) by beating them 2-0 in a group D match played on Monday afternoon at Stade Umuganda in Gisenyi.

The opening stages of the game were balanced with both teams creating goal-scoring chances which they failed to make use of with the tempo of the game high

Against the run of play, the Djiboutians went ahead in the 25th minute through forward Gabriel Gadzie who latched onto a through ball from midfield before firing past a helpless KMKM keeper. He nearly doubled his tally moments later but his shot missed the target narrowly. AS Port took an unlikely lead to the break.

KMKM started the second half strongly but once again they were caught off-guard when Gadzie bagged his second of the match in the 73rd following a superb counter attack.

Elsewhere in a group C match played in Kigali, Ugandans Proline defeated Somalia’s FC Heegan 2-0 in a group C match staged in Kigali Stadium. Okiror Joshua opened the scoring in the 58th minute before Mustafa Mujuz doubled the lead in the 74th minute from the penalty spot after Hakim Kiwanuka was brought down in the penalty area.
