While Kenyans are learning how to say Ni Hao as Chinese language booms in Kenya, Chinese students are busy learning how to say Cucu na guka. They are learning Kenyan local language- Kikuyu
Matiang’i should see this!
In a Viral video going rounds on social media, excited Chinese students are seen trying to learn Kikuyu words such as Maitu, and cucu. The motive behind the Chinese learning Kikuyu language is unclear.
However, from their growing Chinese presence in Kenya, it seems that they have a desire to conduct business and communicate comfortably with Kenyans.
It is believed that in Kenya, people from the Kikuyu community are good in doing business and so are the Chinese people. Therefore, Chinese people might have developed a special liking for Kikuyu people because they have that one thing in common.
In the future, do not be surprised if you meet a Chinese hawker in the streets of Nairobi speaking in Kikuyu language.
But do they know that our Kenyan Interior CS Fred Matiangi has been working day and night to deport Chinese people conducting illegal business in Kenya?
A few weeks ago Matiang’i deported some Chinese who were selling Mitumba bales in Gikomba Market.
Do they also know that the best languages to learn are Kenya’s national languages which are Swahili and English? Whatever motivated them to learn the Kikuyu language only still remains a mystery.
Taking to social media, Kenyans have reacted weirdly to Chinese people trying to learn the Kikuyu language.
