Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has rubbished Itumbi’s arrest by the detectives saying that the act was meant to divert the public’s attention from the alleged meeting held at La Mada hotel by some of the cabinet secretaries.
While responding to his arrest on his Twitter account, Murkomen questioned if there was a meeting that took place at La Mada, if the Permanent Secretary in charge of DCI indeed said Ruto must be stopped the same way Saitoti was, saying the authenticity of the allegations was more important than the letter itself.
Arrest of @OleItumbi is a strategy to divert attention from the La Mada meeting&plan.Was there a meeting?Did PS in charge of DCI say Ruto must be stopped Saitoti way?Who complained about assassination?And to who?The authenticity of the allegations is more important than a letter

Itumbi was on Wednesday noon arrested at City Hall, Nairobi by investigators probing the alleged plan to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto. The investigators had earlier on threatened to make arrests once the investigations into the viral letter were over.
He was arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road for more questioning over a fake letter he is accused of drafting. Itumbi currently works at the office of Deputy President as the secretary for digital.
Murkomen’s post came a day after ODM lieutenants accused Deputy President William Ruto of attacking ODM leader Raila Odinga calling him The Lord of Poverty. They said that Ruto was trying to divert the attention of the public from the fake assassination letter claims by inviting Raila’s name into his ‘senseless’ claims.
“We are alive to the massive struggle by the deputy president in the past few days to bury the news of his fake assassination plot and its flat failure to generate the sympathy he desperately needed and hoped for,” said ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
Sifuna said Ruto was trying to intimidate CSs perceived to be loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Murkomen’s Tweet was, however, met with mixed reactions from a section of online users. Here are some reactions;
Take your grievances to karura DCI, not twitter. Infact the prosecution should apply to detain him for 45days pending investigations.
