Uhuru, Ruto Lead Kenyans in Mourning Bob Collymore

President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned departed Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore  as a distinguished corporate leader whose contribution to our national wellbeing will be missed.

News broke on Monday that Collymore had passed away in his Nairobi home after a long battle with Leukemia, a type of cancer.

“It is with deep sadness that I have this morning received news of the death of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore after years of battling cancer. As a country, we’ve lost a distinguished corporate leader whose contribution to our national wellbeing will be missed” read a statement from State House.

Deputy President Willam Ruto said Collymore was a distinguished corporate titan whose leadership at the helm of Safaricom was commendable.

“He steered the company to new heights and contributed immensely to the evolution of Kenya’s corporate scene,” Ruto said through his official twitter handle.

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga too sent condolences to the family and  where he praised him for serving the county in dedication and sustaining the communication hub in Africa.

“My condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr Bob Collymore as well as the entire Safaricom fraternity. Bob served our country with dedication and sustained us as a communication hub in Africa. May his soul rest in eternal peace”.

Kenyans have mourned Bob as a person who has left a huge legacy at Safaricom since he took over the company from Michael Joseph in 2010.

Collymore passes away at the age of 61 and leaves behind a wife and four children.
