Just days after Harambee Stars beat Tanzania 3-2 at the ongoing Africa Cup Of Nations, it has been confirmed that the two are set to face each other again this year. Kenya will play Taifa Stars in the qualifiers of the 2020 Africa Nations Championship tournament and not Burundi as had been earlier scheduled.
The decision follows a new draw made after The Confederation Of African Football decided on the inclusion of Djibouti and hosts Ethiopia, who were not in the initial draw. Harambee stars will travel to face Tanzania in the first leg planned for the 26th to 28th of July before hosting the second leg between 2nd August to 4th August.
The aggregate winner of the two-legged qualifier will face off with either Ethiopia or Djibouti in the second and final qualifying round, to be played on a date set to be announced in due course. The final tournament, reserved for players actively featuring in their respective national championships, has been scheduled for January 2020 in Ethiopia.
Micheal Olunga’s double helped Kenya earn the East African bragging rights in the 3-2 win over Tanzania in the second Group C match at the Africa Cup Of Nations.
Harambee Stars coach Sebastian Migne has already named his squad for the match that includes Kakamega Homeboyz striker Allan Wanga and Wazito FC Midfielder Joe Waithera. Below is the full Harambee stars squad for CHAN 2020..
