Breaking: Gor Mahia signs Rwandese midfielder

Gor Mahia has acquired the services of Rwandan midfielder, Djabel Imanishimwe after reaching an agreement with his club, Rayon Sports.

The 21-year old has been in Rayon Sports books since 2014 when he joined the club at the age of 16. He went on to become a key player for the club and was named captain when Erick Ndayishimiye unceremoniously exited the club in 2018.

The workaholic midfielder scored 29 goals and set up 53 others during his five-year stint with the club. He won four major trophies with Rayon during that period.

Gor Mahia has been in the market in search of Francis Kahata replacement after the attacking midfielder confirmed his intention to exit the club and have now acquired Imanishimwe’s services.

“We have reached an agreement for the transfer of Djabel Imanishimwe to @GormahiaLive.
We would like to wish Our Captain Djabel well as we say a fond goodbye, ” the club announced in a tweet.

Gor Mahia is expected to bolster its playing unit further before the start of the season. The club has lost lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge to Angolan side, Petro Atletico and with Kahata, another key player exiting, the club is expected to rope in a few more quality players to enable the club compete in the league and the Caf Champions League next season.

A few more players could also exit the club. Defenders Pascal Ogweno and Harun Shakava have been linked with moves to KCB ans Wazito FC respectively while midfielder Cersidy Okeyo is also on Wazito FC’s radar.

Other players linked with a move to Gor Mahia include Nairobi Stima winger Curtis Wekesa, Kisumu Allstars’ Alvin Ochieng, Tusker FC’s Boniface Muchiri among others.
