AFCON2019: All cheer after Harambee Stars’ ‘unexpected’ victory

Kenyans were left in a cheerful mood after an expected victory of Harambee Stars against East Africa neighbours, Tanzania in an enthralling African Cup of Nation second group stage match at 30 June Stadium.

Many had lost hope after the 2-0 humiliating defeat by Algeria in their opener where Harambee Stars were utterly subdued, ending with not a single shot on target. The defense was equally not strong and the North African team took advantage and broke it most of the time.

For that reason, Kenyans were skeptical whether their national team would beat Tanzania. However, Harambee Stars came to the match with more determination and with a lot of strength as they equalised twice before scoring their winning goal in the 80th minute, thanks to striker Michael Olunga.

And after the final whistle on Friday morning, Kenya broke into celebration after Harambee Stars’ hard-earned 3-2 victory over Emmanuel Amunike’s boys. It began by various leaders sending their congratulatory messages to the stars.

Fans were not left behind as they stormed social media to heap praise on their national team for the great showpiece, which many didn’t believe could happen.
