Starehe Member of Parliament Charles ‘Jaguar’ Kanyi is still attracting a lot of criticisms following his harsh threats to foreign investors.

In a viral video making rounds in different social media platforms,Jaguar is heard telling foreigners engaged in business in his constituency to shut down and vacate the country failure to which they will be forcefully removed.

However Ainakboi MP William Chepkut has also accused Jaguar of expressing his high level of illiteracy through his xenophobic speech.

Chepkut has stated that Jaguar does not understand how Both Kenya and Tanzania benefit from each other. Chepkut has claimed that Tanzania has specifically offered good business environment for Kenya’s Commercial Banks making them thrive.

Moreover Chepkut has stated that Jaguar only got elected by paying his loyalty to his tribal demagogue.

“Jaguar, schooling is what you need. You don’t understand the economic benefits from the Kenyan banks operating in Tanzania. Jaguar is a bum who chanced on a political seat for pledging loyalty to his tribal demagogue,”he said.

The government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna denounced the MP’s remarks saying they do not represent the government’s official position.

“We wish to state that this is not the position of the government and we denounce the comments carried in the video in the strongest terms possible. Such comments are unfortunate and have no place in today’s ‘global environment,” he pointed out alluding to the video clip.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also distanced itself from the remarks describing them as careless and inciteful.

A statement from the ministry stated Jaguar’s aggressive and ill-tempered language goes against the constitution.

It pointed out that the unfortunate exploitation of the freedom of free speech to dehumanize foreign communities and incite local constituents “undermines the welcoming culture that Kenya is reputed for and has to be condemned.”

Jaguar is expected to present himself to the Parliament Police station as the sanctions from Tanzania continue to pile up.

Tanzania has since recalled its ambassador over the issue which was termed as a threat to its their citizens.
