Kenyan Premier League side, Kariobangi Sharks has completed the signing of Nzoia Sugar and Kenya U20 striker, Patrick Otieno ahead of 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League season.
Otieno, who started playing for the Bungoma based Sugar Millers while still schooling at Bukembe Secondary School has penned a long-term deal with the William Muluya coached side.
Sharks saw off competition from Bandari, Gor Mahia, KCB, Wazito FC and Mathare United to capture the highly rated striker who is regarded as one of the best upcoming players in the country.
“Otieno has joined Kariobangi Sharks. We reached an agreement with Sharks and everything has been completed. We wish Patrick all the best at Sharks, we have seen him grow from a young boy to a top player here and we believe that he will even get better with time,” a source from the Millers’ camp told Opera News.
Otieno has made one appearance for the Kenya U20 team. He featured for the then Stanley Okumbi coached team during the 2019 Chan U20 qualification match against Rwanda in Kigali , a game that ended in a barren draw.
Known for his speed and dribbling skills, the youngster can unlock defences with ease and coach Muluya will be hoping that he hits the ground running soon.
Sharks endured a difficult 2018/19 campaign where they finished 9th in the Kenyan Premier League after amassing a total of 45 points from 34 rounds of league matches.
The team won the Sportpesa Super Cup and earned a chance to play English Premier league side, Everton in an exhibition match that will be played on 7th July at Moi International Sports Kasarani.
